With the aim of deepening knowledge on insurance and reinsurance as applied to agriculture, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), through its Institute for Innovation in Insurance and Reinsurance (FGV IISR), launched a research project on rural insurance. The preliminary results of this study were presented for the first time during a webinar held on April 19, broadcast via FGV’s official YouTube channel.

The discussion addressed the following key questions:

• Why is a rural insurance program important—not only for producers but also for Brazilian society as a whole?
• What is the current status of existing programs in Brazil?
• How can these programs be made more effective for the agribusiness sector?
