The Financial Inclusion Journey: from Access to Financial Well-being

About the event
Financial inclusion has seen significant growth in Brazil and globally in terms of access and usage. However, there is still a need to adapt financial products and services to better serve low-income populations, as well as to understand the behavior of these consumers within financial systems. Additionally, it is essential to explore new opportunities and risks that regulators and the financial sector must take into account.
With the goal of discussing the challenges related to the quality of financial inclusion and its potential effects on consumers’ lives, the Gates Foundation, the Central Bank of Brazil, and Fundação Getulio Vargas held the event “The Financial Inclusion Journey: from Access to Financial Well-being” on September 25, at the FGV Cultural Center, in Rio de Janeiro.
The event featured panel discussions on the following topics:
-
New low-income entrants: how vulnerable are they and how do they use financial products and services?
-
Expanding access for the unbanked: financial inclusion enabled by competition and public digital infrastructure.
-
The quality of financial products and services: policies and real-world examples.
-
Financial well-being: guiding financial inclusion and public policies.
